S. CROCE - S. POLO |
| These two "sestieri" are named after the churches built there. The first inhabitants are said to have settled in small islands known as " Rivus Altus" or " Rialto" since then, the traditional place for the Venice market. As well as the market itself, full of life and ringed by numerous typical bars and taverns, it is worth strolling through this part of the city to visit two of Venice's most famous and beautiful monuments, the church of I Frari and the Scuola Grande di San Rocco. |
